El Paso weather retains a predominantly warm and sunny disposition throughout the year. Summers are very hot and winters mild, the light breezes that almost permanently blow through the city and the mountains that embrace it on three sides protecting El Paso weather from any unpleasant extremities. With over 300 days of sunshine annually, El Paso has rightfully earned its nickname "The Sun City". Another aspect of the conditions one can expect to come across in El Paso is the low humidity, which in combination with the abundant sunshine make outdoor activities a possibility at any given time of the year.
With temperatures ranging between 13°C / 55°F and -1°C / 30°F, January is the coldest month of the year. As a direct result of its elevation (3800 feet or 1200m) El Paso occasionally experiences snowfall, usually in winter (December to February); however snow tends to melt quickly averaging an accumulation of only 13 cm / 5 inches.
During the spring season weather in El Paso puts on its most pleasant and welcoming disposition; although light snowfall is still possible, temperatures remain mild through out, during March ranging from highs of 21°C / 70°F to lows of 5°C / 49°F.
As summer rolls in, temperatures begin to rise considerably, eventually reaching highs of 36°C / 97°F during June and July. As a result of the monsoonal flow from the Gulf of California, El Paso weather during the summer season is also characterised by occasional thunderstorms and extensive rainfall, making summer the wettest time of the year.
